CAGE Door Shuts

With nearly six years under their belt, The CAGE has shut shop.

The group has been one of BUMS community bands since 2015. It started up to cater for the needs of members from the southside of Brisbane, and to perform at SPRUKE 2015. From this success, the group continued and grew in confidence in singing harmonies, ukulele playing and performing.

The CAGE at SPRUKE 2019

Meeting on most Sunday afternoons under the tutelage of Ian Phillips and Becky Lochel, The CAGE performed for many community functions. We performed many gigs such as Australia Day, Lions Fun Runs, MS Moonlight walks, Brookfield Christmas Carols and The Oxley Christmas Carols and Pyjama Foundation Christmas events. We performed at the Bulimba Uke Festival, Sunshine Coast Uke Festival as well as SPRUKE in 2015, 2017 and 2019.

Under Ian and Bec’s guidance, The CAGE grew to be BUMS Inc’s largest community band. This was largely due to the expert guidance given to new band members,  particularly beginner ukulele players. The BUMS Inc Management Committee would like to thank Ian and Becky for their incredible contribution to the ukulele journeys of so many of our BUMS Inc members. You have done an amazing job.
