Ukulele under the Stars at the Planetarium

There will be no reserved seats in the Planetarium though we can reserve places for people with limited mobility.

UKULELE Players from across Brisbane are invited to a ukulele day of fun in the sun, and a night of Ukulele Under the Stars.

Brisbane Ukulele Musicians Society (BUMS Inc) has arranged a unique opportunity for BUMS Members and members of the public.  You can strum and sing along with the best of our jam leaders, during the day outside the Planetarium, and during the evening, under the Auditorium stars.

Free day time events between 11.30am and 5:00pm will include jams led by BUMS performance groups and jam leaders on the grassy bank outside the Planetarium. This is an opportunity to meet members of the BUMS family as they do what they enjoy most - playing ukulele in public, singing with friends, and having fun, fun, fun.

To commemorate the occasion, you will be able to purchase a range of merchandise, including a song book of all the music played on the day, a Picnic Blanket celebrating the theme of Ukulele Under the Stars, T shirts, and others generic BUMS Merch paraphernalia. 

Participants on the day will be able to enjoy the ambience of the Botanic Gardens entrance area, as they strum along, and sing, or just listen to the performances. There will be an opportunity for open mic sessions, giving keen performers the chance to sing their favourite songs to a live audience.

During the day, food and coffee vans will be available to serve food and drinks.

The day of fun will culminate with a Ticketed Event in the Planetarium.  The museum and amphitheatre will remain open for you to join one of two performances of Ukulele Under the Stars in the Auditorium. Each performance will comprise drinks and nibbles and then an hour-long jam under the stars.

The first session will commence at 4:15 pm, and the second, 5:30pm.  Numbers are limited to 100 seats and the jam program will be identical, so a total of 200 seats are available.

Prices for Ukulele Under the Stars in the Planetarium are $45 for BUMS members and $50 for non-members.
