Make Music with BUMS

After the success of the World Ukulele Day events at Coorparoo Bowls Club in 2025 and 2026, we are putting on seven hours of ukulele fun at Ferny Grove Bowls Club on Sunday 21 June from 10.00am to 5.00pm.  It's FREE and open to everyone. BUMS community bands and affiliated bands and players will lead the fun.

This date is known as Make Music Day and is part of the international Fête de la Musique, taking place in a thousand cities and places across 120 countries.  It encourages community groups to get together and play music.  Of course, playing together is something ukulele players do very well. 

There will be seven jam sessions, five ukulele performances and open mike opportunities.  The bar is open all day, tea and coffee are available and the Little Nyonya Malaysian bistro will be open from 11.00am to 2.00pm.  There is lots of onsite parking.

Adrian Board

A regular performer at jams, festivals and events either alone, supporting other players or with accomplished musicians.

Bunyaville Buskers

An offshoot band from the Ferny Grove jam and Linda’s Uke'n'Sing group created in the COVID days playing in a park.  They have fun and play at jams and know how to entertain a jam audience.

David Hethorn

An accomplished ukulele player and performer often seen playing at festivals around the country. He will be playing songs that he will do as a featured performer at Klub MUK (Melbourne) in September.

Fooled Em Again

Led by Steve Sandilands and ably supported by Simon (bass), Frank (lead), Megan (vocals) and Ross(percussion), they impress with songs suitable for jams or at performances where they show their virtuosity.

Grandees

Led by Kevin Buckley (bass) and Graham Hall, this ensemble brings other BUMS under their wing to involve jam audiences with their fun and upbeat songs.

Strung Out

Led by Linda Gough, Strung Out is the performance band of Linda’s Uke'n'Sing activities, playing regularly at community events, jams and at aged care venues.

Totally Insane Ukes

Derek, Donna and Kevin (and now Pam) have been supporting the Ferny Grove jam and spreading the love of ukulele far and wide for years.

Ukulele Friday

Gabby, Jen and Sam are the driving force behind the Ukulele Friday jam at Corinda and can be relied upon to provide an energetic and different jam set.
