Sound Desk Workshop

We are looking for expressions of interest to attend a workshop (probably in the new year) on managing the sound systems at jams. Our aim is to reduce the load on Blair and Andrew, particularly at the Coorparoo and Northside jams.

We plan to run a practical workshop that covers all the physical set up of the PA gear and then explain how to use the sound desk at a jam. The longer-term goal is to spread the load at jams, so we don’t rely on one or two people.  We will run a buddy system with new trainees, so you get the chance to turn theory into practice, make mistakes (in a safe environment) and grow your confidence.

If you are a set leader or performer, understanding how the PA system works is invaluable, because it means you can better use the tools provided. Honestly, it's really fun. So, whilst everyone will be welcome, the intent in the long term is that we want more people to be able to run the sound at the jams and other performances.
