Vocal Workshop review

23rd March 2025
By Peter Grace

Elizabeth Ross maintained her reputation as a superb workshop presenter on 22 March at Coorparoo.  The workshop was challenging, informative and fun. The exercises were excellent and often amusing, and we all came away having pushed ourselves to try something new (often many times).

There were 18 participants in the workshop.  In the first session, Elizabeth explained where our voices come from, how to use and develop a natural voice and how to increase the power of our voice.  This all came with lots of exercises and challenges. We surprised ourselves with how good we sounded.

In the second session, Elizabeth showed us how to rework a song to make it suit our voice and our style.  We broke up into small groups and reworked Love Is In the Air and then presented them to the group.  Next, we did the same with Ed Sherrin’s Perfect.  Imagine that sultry song to a country and western or blue grass rhythm!

If you missed this event, we may just have to bring Elizabeth back again.  Even when you have tried her exercises and challenges, you will learn more by doing them a second time.
