On Saturday 24 May, 25 BUMS members were lucky to attend two great workshops presented by Sally Carter.

The first workshop introduced us to the concept of Campanella ukulele playing or as Sally put it…ukuleles masquerading as harps. Playing with as many open strings as possible, the tunes sounded beautiful played in this fashion. While we only had an hour, Sally was able to teach us the concept and the skills…now it’s just practice and more practice to make it sound like Sally!

The second workshop was lots of fun, with something for everyone. We worked on the Queen song, We Will Rock You, using 5 different parts. There were chords, rhythm parts and a couple of catchy riffs. Once we had a chance to try out the different parts, we then added the singing. A wonderful experience making music with everyone coming together!

Thank you, Sally, for a fabulous workshop! And Steve for initiating it.
