Lord Mayor's Seniors Cabaret
If you can dream it, you can do it!
The Lord Mayor's Seniors Cabaret is a free development program that provides Brisbane seniors the opportunity to learn from the best in the biz and develop their creative and artistic talents in a non-competitive and supportive environment. It doesn’t matter if you’re an experienced performer or you’ve never performed on the stage before, it’s your time to shine!
No auditions are required for this program.
Prepare an item beforehand (solo or group) and then perform that item at your masterclass and receive one-on-one feedback from your mentor. All the mentors are wonderfully encouraging, especially Vic Kena. As many of you know, Vic is a consummate performer. He's the master of anything with strings, but he has a special love for the ukulele. What an opportunity!
All the information you need is here. Registrations open 1 June - next Monday.

This full day workshop for soprano, concert and tenor ukuleles will showcase new instrumental music for both High G and Low G ukulele by national and international composers Samantha Muir, Paul Mansell, Sally Carter, Tony Mizen, Choan Galvez and Cathy Welsford. The selected pieces provide many opportunities for learning both skills and musical understandings.
Discounts for BUMS members, a book of 40 pieces to keep, a concert at the end and morning and afternoon tea in between. What could be better?
"This was an inspiring day. It moved me out of my comfort zone rut, and opened my eyes to new possibilities and ways of putting songs together. Being a group of ukers of varying abilities, my first thought was 'How are they going to be able to cater for such wide differences?' But Sally and Cathy are also wonderful teachers and they pitched the day so well that everyone came away having learned something new. Playing together at the end of the day, we were sounding fabulous, having had a fun day filled with laughs and learning." Liz Hrouda
