Geebung Singalong jam

18th October 2025
By Peter Grace

This jam on Friday 17 October was set up as a one-off to celebrate Queensland Senior’s Month.  We also thought it would be a good opportunity to run a weekday, day-time jam on the Northside and see what support we got. What we got was more than 40 players and singers who had a great time.

Many players arrived early to taste the delights from the Little Nyonya bistro. Many brought their partners or friends to sing along.

Six players from NUMB BUMS (Chris, Vivienne, Graham, Joan, Keith and Andre) played the first set of eight songs.  They picked from different genres with lots of variety.  Well done to Keith in providing harmonica solos in his first performance since joining NUMB BUMS.  Judging by the audience volume, Five Foot Two, Lay Down Sally and Under the Boardwalk were popular.

The second set was led by Totally Insane Ukes (Kevin, Derek and Donna).  They chose singalong songs to fit the theme of the jam.  Favourites included April ShowersQue Sera, Sera and Sentimental Journey.

Spare Parts (Len, Diane, Peter and David) continued the fun with a set of high tempo songs including, Great Balls of Fire, DarkTown Strutters Ball and Looking Out My Back Door.  With time remaining, Andrew sourced songs from a previous set they’d played, and they finished off the afternoon with This Could be The Last Time and Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress.

Thanks to Andrew and Sylvia for organising the front desk and the PA and projection.  And thanks to all the northsiders who turned up to support the idea of a daytime jam at Geebung.
