Coorparoo jam buzzes in 2026

08th January 2026

It was a great night at Coorparoo Bowls Club on Wednesday 7th January as the first BUMS Jam of the year, was attended by close to 70 happy strummers.

Ukesters were entertained with a fantastic three sets, led by three bands. Steve Sandilands’ Fooled Em Again kicked off the night.  Special mention to Simon Carter on bass who led us through some classic rock numbers.

Caroline Haig managed to track down Mick Angeles and talk him into coming along to Coorparoo to give us a great taste of the Mick Angeles music magic. From the Beatles to Bowie, Mick and Caroline shook the stage. Randy VanWarmer’s Just when I needed you most gave air to Mick’s mellifluous voice, and everyone joined in for that great tango, Hernando’s Hide Away.

To finish the night, Graham Hall and the Grandees (with a cameo spot for Salli Chmura on flute) brought us a great set including Lily The Pink, Fernando, It’s My Party, a special version of Where Do You go to My lovely and a rousing Let’s go to the Hop.

Strummers left Coorparoo Bowls Club that night with a smile on their dials, and that’s what Brisbane Ukulele Musicians Society is all about.
