Two Special Events in June
14th May 2026
We are holding a trial jam at Norman Park Sports Club on Wednesday 10 June and a whole day of ukulele fun at Ferny Grove Bowls Club on Sunday 21 June. Both events are free and everyone is welcome.
Norman Park jam
With the future of Coorparoo Bowls Club in doubt, we have been looking for alternative venues in the same area. Norman Park Sports Club is a possible place for us to hold jams and other events such as workshops. It is about one kilometre from Coorparoo Bowls Club (in a straight line) and has
- a large function room with fans and aircon,
- heaps of parking,
- easy access for everyone,
- a bar and kitchen.
We will be holding a 'trial' jam on Wednesday 10 June from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. We will have three set leaders and it will be free. Come and check it out and tell us what you think.
Make Music at Ferny Grove
After the success of the World Ukulele Day events at Coorparoo Bowls Club in 2025 and 2026, we are putting on seven hours of ukulele fun at Ferny Grove Bowls Club on Sunday 21 June from 10.00am to 5.00pm. BUMS community bands and affiliated bands and players will lead the fun.
This date is known as Make Music Day and is part of the international Fête de la Musique, taking place in a thousand cities and places across 120 countries. It encourages community groups to get together and play music. Of course, playing together is something ukulele players do very well.

There will be seven jam sessions, ukulele performances and open mike opportunities. The bar is open all day, tea and coffee are available and Little Nyonya bistro will serve lunch and dinner.
