Mick’s musical performance background was mainly in guitar bands playing pub rock, rock ‘n roll, cabaret, country, Top Forty and his beloved show bands where he developed his “fronts-manship” ability to communicate with audiences.
Mick taught himself to play guitar and how to sing (not scream). Always on the hunt for musical challenges, he taught himself to play Piano, then Bass followed up by banjo, mandolin, didgeridoo, harmonica, ukulele and flute. He is now playing ukulele upside-down as a personal experiment.
Mick joined BUMS 2½ years ago after a neighbour introduced him to the ukulele sect, and has loved playing that happy little instrument which he always thought was a really bad present to give a kid at Christmas time.
Mick has an eclectic expanse of songs and genres but loves to interpret different ways of communicating those compositions.
So come along and have a listen, you may even recognise some of the material.
